12+ years ago I was one of 20+ Americans ordered by corporate mgmt to train our foreign replacement workers. Our replacements were TATA India Inc employees, holders of mainly L-1b visas. Siemens ICN mgmt brought the American employees into a room and told them that they would be laid off. But, first they said we want you to train your replacements. As a contractor I was not invited; they just assumed the contractors would go along with the transition. Little did they know that a few of us would bring years of media attention to the company.
TATA employees even created Knowledge Transfer documents. That’s what they titled the documents “Knowledge Transfer documents”. I had 3 trainees with each learning a different facet of my position. All were young and inexperienced. I saw one L-1 visa holder reading an “Introduction to” manual. Qualified for a “specialized knowledge” visa as the L-1 visas is supposed to be for? I think not.
WKMG Orlando did a series on our replacement. A DVD of it was provided to every House member. How could this happen 12+ years after our replacement?
For years, we tried to stop this abuse against well-educated American workers but obviously, the corporate power on congress is too much. The Disney and So Cal Edison reports confirm that our presidents and congress only care for the corporations lining their pockets; they could care less about their constituents livelihoods.
Here are a few links to our replacement:
